What are roles?
Understand the roles a signer can play in a document. Each role, from signing to endorsing or acting as a witness, has its specific legal implications and purposes.
The role of each signer can be defined during the document creation process, within the cards provided for entering the signer(s) details:
Which are the roles?
Sign: This is the default role for signing a document, where the signer receiving it declares their acceptance of the document's terms and signs it.
Approve: The role of approving the document's content without necessarily being a party to it.
Example: When a company manager needs to approve contracts before they are signed.
Acknowledge: Used to certify awareness of the content or situation described in the document.
Witness: Used for someone who will act as a civil witness.
Acknowledge Receipt: Functions as a digital acknowledgment of receipt, certifying that the document was received by the recipient but does not make them an integral part of the document.
Endorse in Black: Used for commercial bills, where the ownership of the bill is transferred to a named person.
Endorse in Blank: Has the same function as the previous one, but without specifying a named person.
